Electra XT

The Harmonic ElectraTM XT Xtream (formerly known as ViBE® XT1000) high-density encoder features the highest real-time transcoding density on the market and supports any format conversion. It significantly reduces procurement and operational costs for operators facing channel growth and increasing multi-screen applications, while also shortening time to market.
Digital television distribution is changing at a faster pace than ever before, with the number of broadcast programs continuously increasing and more formats emerging to support the explosive growth of video content distribution to a variety of multi-screen devices, including tablets, smartphones, and connected TVs. Service providers must confront these challenges while continuing to grow their subscriber base, develop new IPTV services, and maintain average revenue per user without decline. Harmonic Electra XT helps operators successfully address this challenge.
The cost-effective Electra XT offers high-density and scalable real-time transcoding for traditional cable TV, IPTV, DTH, DTTV, and multi-screen applications.
Supports Any Format Conversion Electra XT receives compressed video via IP stream and can transcode audio and video between any formats. For video, the device supports standard definition and high definition MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC. It also supports various audio codec formats, including MPEG-1 Layer II, Dolby® Digital (AC-3), Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC-3), AAC-LC, and HE-AAC v1/v2 in mono, stereo, and surround sound modes.
The highest density and scalability.
Electra XT leverages years of rich experience and innovative technology in video compression algorithms to provide the industry's best transcoding density, supporting up to 180 SD or 54 HD channels in just 2 RU. The design of the device incorporates high efficiency, featuring a modular architecture that supports operator business growth, accommodating up to 9 hot-swappable audio/video processing modules. Each module supports 20 standard definition or 6 high definition channels (or a mix) through per-channel software licensing.
The high-density characteristics of the transcoder significantly reduce the required rack space and lower energy consumption. The flexible web graphical user interface facilitates the simultaneous configuration and monitoring of hundreds of encoding channels.
Not just a coding device, the Electra XT is more than a basic high-density encoder. To add value to workflows, the device is equipped with efficient advanced features, including user-defined text and logo insertion, as well as manual and automatic volume adjustment on transcoded audio channels.
For satellite, terrestrial, and cable applications, the Electra XT supports internal statistical multiplexing to meet end-user video quality requirements while optimizing bandwidth. For multi-screen applications, the device supports adaptive bitrate encoding. Video can be transmitted to an external packager or internally encrypted and packaged in Apple® HLS, Microsoft® Smooth Streaming, and MPEG-DASH formats.
