During the UK elections, over 900 LiveU devices were deployed, providing more than 18,000 program slots for over 180 broadcasters.
2024During the UK general election, LiveU's video IP ecosystem played a crucial role in around-the-clock coverage. Leading broadcasters and news organizations from over 40 countries utilized LiveU's live equipment, cloud production, and distribution solutions to deliver outstanding reports from hundreds of polling stations nationwide.
During the election period, over 180 customers of LiveU deployed more than 900 LiveU field encoders (multi-camera encoder LU800 and compact encoder LU300S). In collaboration with LiveU's mobile application LU-Smart, approximately 18,000 live broadcasts were recorded within 48 hours, totaling over 5,000 hours of live content, with a transmission volume exceeding 10.5TB. LiveU's cloud-based IP video distribution platform, LiveU Matrix, served as the backbone for aggregating recorded content, allowing broadcasters to reliably and securely share key recorded content in real-time while effectively reducing production costs. This coverage utilized over 400 distribution channels in total. As part of a seamless production workflow, LiveU's cloud-based video production solution, LiveU Studio, expanded the reach of interviews, speeches, and follow-up reports through digital channels.
This election featured real-time coverage throughout the entire process, including candidate interviews, polling stations, result announcements, and live speeches. LiveU technology comprehensively utilized cellular networks, local WiFi, and low Earth orbit satellite connections, providing a diversity of connectivity without altering the workflow.
