(NASDAQ: HLIT) today announced that Canadian cable provider Source Cable has deployed the Harmonic NSG 9000 HectoQAM™ at its headend, enabling cable providers to increase the speed of their internet/data services and add new video on demand (VOD) services. By leveraging the highly scalable HectoQAM, Source Cable can achieve significant cost savings, delivering data, as well as HD and SD video on demand services, from a single, unified edge QAM chassis.

Harley has announced that since the company surpassed the milestone of 1 million QAM units shipped in August 2010, it has now shipped over 2 million QAM units

Harley has recently launched a multi-port T1 system that enables cable operators to cost-effectively enter transmission applications traditionally served by telecom companies, expanding its FLXLink series of commercial service solutions. The FLXLink T1-over-fiber solution is based on Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) technology, allowing secure transmission of enterprise and mobile digital voice/data services over existing broadband television networks of cable operators.
