The HLP4800 is Harmonic's flexible broadband communication platform for hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) networks. With a modular design and built-in communication interfaces, the HLP4800 provides operators with the infrastructure to meet emerging broadband network demands. The 3-RU chassis features primary and backup power supplies and accommodates 10 standard Harmonic plug-in application modules or 20 high-density transmitter modules. This efficient design minimizes front-end space requirements, making it an ideal platform for advanced broadband applications. The HLP4800 is configured with the Harmonic HNC4801 network controller, a module that controls the HLP4800 platform and communication bus, providing local and remote monitoring and control of the communication system. The HNC4801 features a user interface with five buttons and a software license-enabled WEB/SNMP interface.
To enhance system reliability and uptime, the HNC4801 supports hot-swapping, allowing for the removal, replacement, or upgrade of modules without interrupting their operation. The HLP4800 is powered by the CPS4801 hot-swappable power supply, installed in a dedicated slot within the chassis. A second CPS4801 module can be installed, enabling the platform to operate in a "hot" redundant mode. Connectors on the back of the HLP4800 chassis provide an additional +24 VDC backup.
