For scenarios that require fast, intensive, and reliable TS stream redundancy switching, Harmonic's ProSwitch is the optimal solution, ensuring 24/7 availability of digital television signals.
Detailed Technical SpecificationsInquiry about proswitch
If your business cannot afford downtime, you can rely on ProSwitch. This compact standalone system continuously monitors MPEG-2 TS and seamlessly switches to a backup stream upon detecting a failure in the primary stream. Whether for device redundancy or network link redundancy, ProSwitch maximizes the security and uptime of broadcast and transmission links with its high performance, flexibility, and delay compensation features—ensuring the safety of broadcasting and transmission.
ProSwitch offers up to 16 groups of IP switch-over or 4 groups of ASI switch-over in a 1 RU unit. The high-density ProSwitch saves costs, power, and space, helping operators reduce deployment and operational expenses.
- Reliability and Flexibility
ProSwitch can utilize Gigabit Ethernet or ASI interfaces, making it suitable for any type of architecture: from widely deployed ASI interfaces to new IP-centric networks. The switch is equipped with dual power supplies to maximize the security of program transmission. The Gigabit Ethernet and ASI interfaces feature an intelligent configurable bypass mechanism, ensuring that program transmission can be maintained even in the event of a power failure.
- Rich configurable testing conditions
ProSwitch measures the operational status of input streams through various configurable test conditions. It supports the TR 101 290 standard (three priority levels), providing a comprehensive operational status check for digital DVB networks. In the ATSC environment, the device also supports the same level of test conditions and monitoring modes. To enhance switching capabilities, ProSwitch offers template checks for expected PIDs, rate limiting, and/or checks on the scrambling status of various key program segments. ProSwitch can configure each test condition and its critical alarm levels to initiate switching or log alarms. Additionally, ProSwitch can set the detection alarm trigger time to avoid unnecessary switching during transient events (time duration mechanism).
- Delay compensation feature
ProSwitch simultaneously analyzes input streams with delays (ranging from milliseconds to seconds) and provides delay compensation functionality. If a fault is detected in one input, the device compensates for the time difference and seamlessly switches to another normal transmission stream, without affecting the end user. Typical applications include link distribution redundancy switching.
- Designed for terrestrial transmission
By preserving the SFN structure of the input transmission stream, ProSwitch can achieve seamless switching in DVB-T/T2 terrestrial transmission networks. For DVB-T, ProSwitch can rearrange the giant frame structure generated by upstream SFN adapters. For DVB-T2, the device can still rearrange the T2-MI stream generated by upstream DVB-T2 gateways (such as Harmonic's ProStream™ X multiplexer). In the event of a switch, ProSwitch retains the output stream structure and timestamps, avoiding program interruptions caused by re-synchronization of the DVB-T/T2 modulator.
- Configuration and Management
ProSwitch is equipped with 100/1000Base-T ports for monitoring. Users can remotely control and monitor the device from any standard web browser. It provides a complete display of switching conditions, as well as easily viewable input/output status information, error log data, and bitrate graphs. For centralized management, ProSwitch is embedded with an SNMP agent.
- World-Class Service and Support
Harmonic offers a comprehensive service and support plan for the ProSwitch switch, including system design, service deployment, technical support, and network maintenance. A world-class service program and a global network of support professionals who respond flexibly and quickly help users create an exceptional "anytime, anywhere, any device" user experience.
