Harmonic Spectrum™ XECombining an integrated channel packaging and broadcasting system with the highest quality software encoders, this defines a new IT broadcasting solution for the creation, control, and transmission of HD, SD, and multi-resolution channels.
In today's complex media environment, broadcasters and operators need to support a larger channel lineup, including existing local or national channels, new thematic programs, and OTT versions of existing channels. Spectrum XE addresses this challenge through integrated broadcasting, encoding, and rendering, along with high scalability and availability. By leveraging the innovative IT design of Spectrum XE, operators can define flexible broadcasting workflows in both compressed and uncompressed domains.
Spectrum XEProvides an integrated channel packaging and broadcasting function to control and deliver new channels, meeting the needs of television stations for a system that is easy to deploy, operate, and monitor. This perfect solution is designed for establishing broadcast and multi-screen delivery channels, and for cost-effectively regionalizing downstream programming (such as ad insertion and brand promotion).
Flexible multi-channel broadcasting:
Built on the widely deployed Sapphire™ video server foundation, Spectrum XE extends broadcasting into the uncompressed domain and features outstanding re-encoding capabilities along with advanced audio/video processing functions. The platform is based on a next-generation video operating system, providing a library of audio/video processing software modules. These modules can be combined in various ways to enhance broadcasting workflows.
Spectrum XEAllows for uncompressed channel broadcasting through a complete dynamic decoding and re-encoding workflow. The system operates in the uncompressed domain, offering significant advantages. Various input files or live formats can be combined before broadcasting, and multiple advanced audio and video processing operations can be applied (such as HD/SD upconversion or volume control). Expanded graphics overlay capabilities enable the overlay of static bitmaps, animations, and scrolling subtitles, as well as the application of powerful video effects such as fade-in/fade-out and squeeze-back.
Spectrum XEChannels can be re-encoded in various formats (HD, SD, and multi-resolution output) and used over ASI or IP networks. The integrated software encoder delivers outstanding video quality in MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC, and HEVC formats, supporting CBR encoding and internal statistical multiplexing. Operators can also use Spectrum XE solely in the compressed domain. This broadcast mode is specifically designed for stitching MPEG-2, MPEG-4 AVC, and HEVC transport streams, offering two main advantages: preserving the integrity of live quality or file sources and increasing channel density. Of course, Spectrum XE can operate multiple independent channels simultaneously in both uncompressed and compressed broadcast modes.
Intuitive Automation System
Spectrum XEThe built-in automation system manages all channel schedules with frame-level precision and provides robust monitoring capabilities. The automation system offers one or more playout schedules for each channel, defining live or file events and graphic overlays as primary or secondary events. Spectrum XE supports various event triggers, such as time scheduling, SCTE 35 in-band cue-tone signals, GPI signals, and input signal loss.
Spectrum XEThe graphical user interface includes intuitive broadcast list editing and control features, as well as a complete set of advanced monitoring views for reporting the status of multiple simultaneous channels, including timelines, video thumbnail stitching, bitrate graphs, and transport stream screenshots. The Spectrum XE broadcast system can also connect to external traffic and billing or master control systems via the BXF standard interface. BXF utilizes a comprehensive structure that supports multiple scheduling actions and defines detailed event information.
Smart Material Manager
Spectrum XEIt can also handle compressed transport streams on ASI and baseband streams on SDI, allowing transport stream files to be provided via FTP interface. The Spectrum XE media library offers all these materials for editing and broadcasting, and receives all overlay graphics.
In addition, the Spectrum XE features a built-in intelligent asset manager that processes video clips according to channel scheduling. The system automatically detects any missing assets in the channel playlist and initiates the transfer of video files from external storage accordingly, ensuring timely delivery of materials.
Reliable and Scalable Platform
Spectrum XERunning on the best-in-class IT 1-RU server, which features a secure dual RAID system, hot-swappable redundant power supplies, and a highly reliable hard disk array for expandable storage. Optional Gigabit Ethernet ASI and SDI physical interfaces are available.
