Harley has launched the latest AVC HD 422 10bit encoder.

Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT), a global leader in video broadcasting and service provision, has launched the Ellipse 3000 capture encoder, targeting the high-end market with years of expertise and experience in video compression. The Ellipse 3000 utilizes MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC 4:2:0 / 4:2:2 compression technologies in both 8-bit and 10-bit formats, leveraging satellite and broadband networks to transmit live video. The Ellipse 3000 encoding provides the highest possible image quality for broadcast front-ends, delivering an astonishing video experience.

"Providing extensive codec support and simple field-upgradable firmware, the Ellipse 3000 is a future-proof platform that spans MPEG-2 SD 4:2:0 8-bit and AVC HD 4:2:2 10-bit," said Yaniv Sibony, C&D Product Manager at Harri. "Combining the Ellipse 3000 with the ProView 7100 integrated processing platform, we launched this at IBC 2012 to offer a highly flexible and user-friendly solution for the ultimate 4:2:2 10-bit acquisition workflow."

The extremely low latency and the versatility of the multiformat multicodec make the Ellipse 3000 ideal for digital satellite news gathering (DSNG) operations and live sports event coverage – or any application where high image quality and performance are primary considerations.

To ensure universal compatibility, the Ellipse3000 supports modulation schemes for DVB-S, DVB-DSNG, and DVB-S2, and provides support for QPSK/8PSK/16QAM/16APSK constellations. Additionally, L-band, IP, and DVB-ASI outputs ensure reliability by providing backup transmission channels in the event of link failures.

The high-end Ellipse3000 collection encoder is expected to ship in June 2013.
