Weigel Broadcasting Group authorizes cellular news gathering with LiveU.

LiveU Xtender will complement the existing solutions.
Hackensack, NJ - Wiegand Broadcasting Group has deployed the LiveU Xtender external cellular antenna.

The full HD video live streaming traffic report installed on Weigel vehicles indicates that in areas with low cell coverage or high congestion, maintaining connections can be challenging. In past operations, this included the Liveu Xtender. The deployment will complement Liveu's LU70 and other Liveu backpack operation solutions, which have been in the group since 2011.

Liveu's Xtender connects to any Liveu device and adds six additional wireless modems, significantly increasing cellular range and bandwidth compared to high-gain, omnidirectional power to USB modems or passive antennas. Xtender connects to Liveu units wirelessly or via a cable, streamlining deployment. Xtender boosts the LU70 backpack to support up to 13 cellular links simultaneously.

WDJT (CBS58), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, uses LiveU's LU70 backpack combined with the LU-Xtender to broadcast live its ICAM traffic truck every weekday morning, bringing congestion on the roads to the eyes of drivers. Meanwhile, the vehicle's GPS unit provides real-time vehicle location on the road, displayed in a dual frame, and then on the broadcast station's screen, along with mapped footage.

Note: WDJT Weigel Broadcasting Company's Family Service Station is part of the Milwaukee market.
