Ateme has integrated its sports media platform with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise, giving broadcasters, sports leagues, rights holders and streaming services a way to turn a single live event into personalised content for individual fans.
The organisation points to changing viewer expectations. Fans increasingly want coverage built around their preferred teams, players, languages, devices and viewing habits, and one highlight package no longer suits everyone.
With the integration, sports organisations can automatically generate highlights based on favourite teams, players or storylines, as well as recaps sized to the time a viewer has available. The system can also produce multilingual commentary, vertical clips for social media, and variants optimised for over-the-top (OTT), free-ad supported TV (FAST) and direct-to-consumer services.
Gemini Enterprise provides multimodal analysis across video, audio, language and context. Ateme layers its own video-centric models on top, designed to understand media content, viewer behaviour and the workflow requirements of the video industry. According to Ateme, this goes beyond identifying what happened in a match to determining how each moment should be transformed and packaged for different viewers.
One key moment is flagged, Ateme’s platform can handle the rest of the chain, from judging its relevance to particular audiences and generating versions, to optimising visual quality, adapting formats and distributing across multiple destinations.
Ateme expects the capability to help rights holders lift fan engagement and subscriber retention, speed up publishing, localise coverage for different markets and open up new sponsorship and advertising inventory.
