Achieving Cost-Effective Remote Production through Cloud Live Streaming Solutions, LiveU Studio + Dizplai

BCAN (Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network) is a non-profit organization in the United States focused on supporting bladder cancer patients and raising awareness about the disease. During the pandemic, BCAN transitioned its annual local and national walkathons to an online virtual space. May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month, and in addition to local virtual walkathons, BCAN hosted a nationwide fully virtual walkathon for one day.
For BCAN, it was important for participants to maintain interaction and a sense of connection even if they were not in the same physical location, while ensuring that bladder cancer patients and their families felt the support of the community. This year, through an immersive interactive experience of the virtual walkathon, the entire walking event was live-streamed, raising awareness and participation to a new level.

As a non-profit organization, BCAN needed to save costs while continuously increasing its visibility and educating more people about bladder cancer. To this end, BCAN partnered with Social180Group, a company that provides cost-effective production solutions. Social180Group then proposed a remote production workflow solution that reduced operational costs while bringing in top talent and teams from around the world to execute multi-camera live streaming events.
The remote production workflow utilized the integrated cloud solution LiveU Studio, which supports simultaneous live streaming to multiple platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, and offers features for remote interaction with experts. Additionally, LiveU Studio provided a complete solution to deliver customized live streams for BCAN's virtual walkathon, equipped with graphic templates, logos, sponsor logos, titles, and more.

The cloud-based workflow provided significant flexibility: various content such as VOD, live interviews, images, and testimonials were all unified for editing and cutting by the live production team. The compatibility between LiveU Studio and Dizplai allowed for the integration of live visuals and participant platforms, serving as a main graphics engine to deliver dynamic, interactive, and data-rich live content. The real-time display of social media comments through the L-Bar overlay on the live stream enhanced viewer attention and engagement.
The live production of the virtual walkathon spanned two continents and took place in multiple remote locations. Artists, producers, technical directors, and graphic designers worked from their respective offices, eliminating the need for everyone to be on-site, significantly reducing operational costs.

BCAN's Communications Director, Mark, reflected, “The scale of traditional live production or past costs could not have imagined producing such a grand live event. The cloud-based workflow provided us with flexibility and creativity, allowing us to produce high-quality live programming to share and disseminate with a global audience. Thanks to Social180Group and LiveU for delivering an amazing live broadcast that benefits more bladder cancer patients!”
