1. Question:
In the actual project, we encountered the PBI DMM1000P chassis, which is internally configured with QAM demodulation cards and encoding cards. The QAM demodulation cards and encoding cards output IP multicast to the Cisco switch 3750. After the DMM1000P chassis loses power and restarts, there is no output from the QAM demodulation cards and encoding cards.
2. Solution:
This issue is related to the port compatibility between two devices. The PBIQAM demodulator card has an IP output port mode of 100M, while the encoder card has an output port mode of 10M. In contrast, all ports on the Cisco 3750 operate at 1000M. Therefore, there is a compatibility error with the device ports. The PBIQAM demodulator card should be connected to the switch port and forced to set the device to 100M, while the PBI encoder card should be connected to the switch port and forced to set the device to 10M. Below are the switch configuration commands;
3750(config)#interface range gig1/0/1
3750(config-if)#speed 100
3750(config-if)#duplex full
3750(config)#interface range gig1/0/2
3750(config-if)#speed 10
3750(config-if)#duplex full
