The renowned UK motorsport broadcasting platform, Spedeworth TV, has adopted LiveU's lightweight cloud-based live production solution, significantly enhancing its live streaming capabilities and further igniting the passion of motorsport fans worldwide. The platform primarily broadcasts events featuring hot rod modified cars, modified vehicles, and demolition derby competitions, and is now able to present thrilling live event coverage to a global audience with unprecedented efficiency and scale.
From Testing to Full Upgrade: Live Streaming Enters a New Phase
After a successful trial run earlier this year, LiveU's long-term client Spedeworth TV has fully upgraded from the LiveU Solo system to a complete broadcast-grade workflow. They have deployed multiple compact encoders, the LiveU LU300S, and combined it with the LiveU Studio cloud-native video production service to provide integrated live and on-demand content for their digital platforms, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Firestick, and more.
With various domestic, international, and national Hot Rod World Championship events held every weekend, this upgrade of the live broadcasting system has ushered in a new era for Spedeworth TV. In the past, due to budget constraints and other issues, only a portion of the events could be broadcasted live. Now, with an efficient and flexible end-to-end production system, live broadcasts can be conducted anytime and anywhere from any racetrack, requiring fewer resources.
Multi-Camera Live Streaming: Capturing Exciting Moments on the Track from Every Angle
Spedeworth TVUsing multi-camera encoders, the excitement of the track is captured from various angles. Fixed cameras cover the entire track, while mobile photographers capture moments on the field. At the same time, aerial footage from drones and immersive real-time in-car visuals seamlessly converge in real-time.
All content was mixed at the Summer Isle Films production base in Suffolk, UK, and produced through LiveU Studio. The team maintained constant connectivity using the Audio Connect tool in Studio, allowing producers to communicate directly with photographers across the track at any time. Footage captured by the ISO system was used for instant replay and edited into an adrenaline-filled highlight reel.
LiveUThe cloud solution also offers more features for inserting advertisements, creating new revenue opportunities. Spedeworth TV has recently experimented with using mobile phones as in-car cameras. Through LiveU Studio's Remote Capture tool, they are able to communicate directly with the drivers, bringing the audience into the heart of the race and allowing them to experience the thrilling real-time footage.
