Comprehensive Application of VT-HD-SDI Video Optical Transmitter Series in Urban Traffic

The core of modern urban road monitoring systems consists of five components: traffic control, traffic surveillance, traffic information management, traffic dispatching, and comprehensive information transmission. This is supported by other peripheral devices and systems, such as red light violation detection, intelligent license plate recognition, and GPS vehicle positioning. An important feature of urban traffic management and command systems is multi-level management. They can be roughly divided into traffic squads, traffic brigades, traffic detachments, and command centers of traffic management authorities based on their organization and hierarchy. In traditional urban traffic monitoring systems, the aforementioned departments typically monitor and manage urban roads only within their own jurisdictions, lacking effective monitoring and information exchange means between departments, making unified management and command quite challenging.

The VT-HD-SDI video optical transceiver series offers the following solutions for urban traffic monitoring, including the uploading of video signals and various data from intersections and main roads; sharing of video signals, various data, and information between squads, brigades, and the command center. The foundation of urban traffic monitoring and management is the uploaded video signals and various data from intersections and main roads. Some intersections are connected to their respective traffic squads or traffic command centers via fiber optic cables; for these intersections, it is recommended to use digital uncompressed optical transceivers for signal transmission. With the diversification of traffic intersection signals, in addition to video signals, other signals also need to be transmitted. The signals currently required at a traffic intersection are as follows:
Intersection cameras; PTZ control; electronic police signals; transmission of traffic light signals; traffic signal induction screens; central broadcasting to intersections; intercom communication between on-site traffic command personnel and command center staff.
The required optical transceiver interface types are: single-fiber transmission of 1 or 2 video channels + 4 bi-directional data channels + 2 bi-directional audio channels;

Description of system solution features:

  1. Using digital uncompressed technology, the system has high reliability and can adapt to the harsh outdoor environments of traffic intersections.
  2. The VT and VR series digital optical transceivers can transmit video, audio, data signals, and Ethernet signals over a single fiber optic line, effectively solving the transmission and networking issues of electronic police information.
  3. Using digital technology, it can compensate for parameters such as chroma and brightness, resulting in image quality superior to that of original analog video.
  4. Powerful network management functions, self-diagnosis of faults, allowing for early detection and resolution of issues.
  5. With the continuous development of network communication technology, centralized network management of traffic signal induction screens, traffic light control, and various traffic control signals has become an urgent need, requiring traffic intersections to be equipped with Ethernet interfaces to meet the networking requirements of various signals.
