The AsiaSat 7 satellite has successfully replaced the AsiaSat 3S satellite.

The AsiaSat 7 satellite was launched by a Russian Proton-M rocket from the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan at 03:10:34 Beijing time on November 26, 2011. This satellite is the sixth satellite of AsiaSat, a company established by CITIC Group in Hong Kong.

The AsiaSat 7 satellite is equipped with 28 C-band and 17 Ku-band transponders, along with a Ka-band beam. Its extensive C-band coverage encompasses the entire regions of Asia and Oceania, as well as parts of Africa and Europe, providing a wide range of satellite applications in these areas, including television broadcasting and VSAT communication networks.

AsiaSat 7 has a higher power output and a wider coverage area compared to AsiaSat 3S. Therefore, in March 2014, AsiaSat decided to vacate the 105.5°E orbital slot previously occupied by AsiaSat 3S, which was then taken over by AsiaSat 7. After the satellite replacement, some programming on the original AsiaSat 3S underwent significant adjustments. For example, Star Chinese Channel changed from its original frequency of 4000, symbol rate of 26850, horizontal polarization to a new frequency of 3715, symbol rate of 8167, horizontal polarization. Additionally, program information has also changed.
