Playcast's GOD (Game On Demand) gaming on-demand system utilizes a groundbreaking technology that employs high-performance computing for real-time digital MPEG and H.264 video encoding, directly transmitting to existing cable and IPTV networks, allowing set-top boxes to decode and play games immediately. The system is entirely front-end based, requiring no changes to the set-top boxes or the network. Playcast's operations can fully rely on the MPEG VoD system.
The Playcast GOD system began deployment in online VoD networks in February 2008 for trial operation, underwent large-scale system testing in 2009, and completed the world's first commercially operational real-time online system in 2010.
Playcast holds numerous high-end patented technologies that address many challenges faced by traditional solutions in implementation and deployment. - Ultra-low latency video processing: Typically, high-end broadcast-quality compression systems require a delay of 1-2 seconds for encoding and decoding. This latency negatively impacts video quality and bandwidth in current technologies. Playcast's proprietary compression algorithm maximizes the balance of encoding and decoding efficiency, quality, bitrate, and hardware resources, compressing latency to within a few milliseconds while achieving real-time balance across multiple streams;
- Gaming platform: The Playcast system can run multiple large games simultaneously without interference between them. Any changes or modifications are unrelated to the games themselves, as there are dedicated processes on the server side to address these issues;
- Existing TV systems: Playcast has developed a management software suite based on the existing management systems of TVs, which includes user management, monitoring systems, customer care, and support systems. This management software allows the GOD system to integrate seamlessly with the operators' existing management systems;
- Playcast has very low technical requirements for system integration and deployment, meaning that existing set-top boxes and smart TVs do not require significant upgrades or changes.
