Hackensack, New Jersey, May 15, 2012 - LiveU (www.liveu.tv), the pioneer of portable cellular solutions for video, has announced that BBC News will extend its use of the LiveU LU60 mobile uplink solution for news coverage in the UK and the US. The broadcast will utilize this technology to enhance reporting on the 2012 London Olympics, Paralympics, and the US presidential campaign. The footage will be provided to BBC World News and BBC America. BBC News has been using LiveU technology for over three years. The BBC's deployment covers global events, including the LiveU cellular transmission during the Queen's visit to Ireland in 2011, as well as the recent tsunami in Japan and the US midterm elections anniversary in 2011.
In the UK, LiveU's technology is frequently used for news interviews by the BBC, utilizing its three deployment methods: live, as well as for on-site and in-store applications. The portability, flexibility, high resilience, and cost-effectiveness of the LU60 uplink solution can be applied in various situations, including extreme weather conditions - a typical example being the recent storms in the UK.
Samuel Wasserman, CEO of LiveU, said, "We are thrilled to partner with the BBC, which takes pride in its global use of LiveU equipment. This is a significant endorsement of the flexibility of our solutions, and we look forward to seeing the BBC's coverage of the Olympics increase this summer."
This technical solution has provided Garland Partners Ltd., the UK distributor of LiveU, with a complete service package. LiveU's flagship LU60 product is the industry's first bonded 3G/4G LTE backpack, featuring superior proprietary RF technology that delivers up to 1080p HD video and satellite-like second latency experience.
