The traditional Serial Protocol Translator (SPT) is developed to support the integration and expansion of Harris matrix switchers and control systems. The SPT is a smart and compact device that enables users to convert between the Harris XY protocol and protocols from other manufacturers.
Features
• Protocol conversion between Harris XY and specified third-party protocols.
• Harris Matrix controlled by control systems from other manufacturers
• Harris control system elements for controlling matrixers from other manufacturers
• Expansion of the Harris Matrix Switcher
• Additional serial control interface for Harris Matrix System

Product Details
Two basic types of SPT are available: SPT-SXY and SPT-SS. The SPT-SXY includes a configurable serial port for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 and a pair of XY control ports (XY coaxial and XY mini XLR). This serial port is used for communication with devices from other manufacturers, while the XY ports are used for communication with Harris devices.
The SPT-SS includes two serial control ports: one configurable for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485, and the other fixed for RS-232. The SPT can be configured for a wide range of different applications, including:
Protocol Conversion
Using SPT, the Harris matrix switcher system can be controlled by control systems from other manufacturers. Conversely, other manufacturers' routers can be controlled through Harris control devices (including a variety of Harris control panels and control systems).
System Expansion
SPT can be used for the dedicated Harris-to-Harris mode, providing source and target bias for the extended configuration.
Additional Serial Port for Harris Matrixer
The SPT can be used as a dedicated Harris-to-Harris mode for the XY converter in a serial configuration. In this setup, the SPT provides additional serial ports in a matrix system where all serial ports on the matrix machine frame have already been utilized.
Other Features
The SPT can be configured to simulate the Harris Matrix system to assist in troubleshooting software and hardware, or to provide electrical conversion from RS-232 to RS-422.
The SPT is actually installed in a small plastic box, which can be mounted on the side of a rack or along the left side of a cable. All connections, including the power connection, are lockable to ensure a secure fit.
